Lakers News · Casey Filkins, Gatorade Player of the Year

Congratulations to Casey Filkins as he has been named the Gatorade Oregon Football Player of the Year and is now part of a 30+ year legacy that includes past winners such as Peyton Manning, Abby Wambach, Karl-Anthony Towns, Derek Jeter and many other sports icons!

The Gatorade Player of the Year program is proud to recognize the nation’s most elite high school athletes for not only athletic excellence, but also for high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character.  All final candidate selections are determined by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee which is comprised of an elite group of high school sport evaluators with strong experience in assessing thousands of student-athletes in the country based on their statistics, GPAs and community service.

Once again, we would like to commend you for providing your student-athletes with an environment that allows them to realize their full potential. Casey’s accomplishments are a direct reflection upon your school’s administration and the entire athletic department.
